Oxley highway improvements at Spencers Cutting closer
The Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey MP, today announced that a contractor has been engaged to carry out a Review of Environmental Factors for proposed improvements to the Oxley Highway between Wauchope and the Pacific Highway intersection.
Mrs Pavey said the NSW Government has allocated $50 million to improve safety and travel times on the highway in the next four years.
“The Hastings is a recognised growth area in NSW and traffic volumes are expected to significantly increase between Wauchope and Port Macquarie over the next 10 years, she said.
“The improvements will include an eastbound overtaking lane between Spencers Cutting and Rawdon Island Road, and extending the existing westbound overtaking lane.
“The intersection at Rawdon Island Road will also be realigned and the highway widened where necessary to accommodate 3.5 metre lanes and two metre shoulders.”
“The existing roadway has poor alignment, a narrow road surface, inconsistent edge lines and inadequate clear zones with few opportunities to overtake; the works will fix these issues," Mrs Pavey said.
Investigations on the Oxley Highway will be carried out in coming weeks. Motorists will be notified of any changed traffic conditions.
