Opinions sought on Australian fishing culture

Whether you love to fly a line for leisure or trawl for tuna as a way to make a living, an Australian fishing inquiry is underway to improve the $2.6 billion industry and you're invited to share your thoughts on how to make your fishing experience even better.

In attempts to foster a competitive and transparent fishing market for all Australians, the Federal Government has just released the first draft of a holistic report relating to the aquaculture and fisheries sector. The first draft includes recommendations across the board including access to resources, environmental management, commercial, recreational and indigenous fishing strategies. The final recommendations are set to be made by December 2016 to ensure the industry continues to function at its best.

If you are an avid fisherman or woman, we encourage you to read over the draft report and provide feedback to the Productivity Commission's website by Friday 14 October 2016. Further details can be found at http://www.pc.gov.au/inquiries/current/fisheries-aquaculture.
