New NBN towers activated

A host of smaller communities in the Blayney and Oberon council areas will now be able to access the National Broadband Network (NBN), after a number of wireless towers have been switched on in recent weeks.

Federal Member for Calare John Cobb revealed today that more than 1,100 premises in Carcoar, Lyndhurst, Mandurama, Neville, Oberon and Oberon East could now access the service.

“For far too long people in the bush have not been able to access fast, reliable internet services but that’s changing now thanks to the faster-than-anticipated roll-out of the NBN, especially here in Calare,” Mr Cobb said.

“We’ve been very fortunate because the roll-out in Calare has been well ahead of schedule, rolling out in both major centres and regional towns. In fact, we currently have 23 active towers in Calare, with a further 16 under construction and soon to be up and running.”

NBN Co provides monthly updates on its website showing areas that have reached build preparation, build commencement and that are ready for service.
