Manellae Lodge to sparkle with a refurbishment

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has today announced significant funding of $196,240 for the refurbishment of Manellae Lodge at the Manilla MPS.

Mr Anderson visited the aged care facility in June this year, and spoke with the residents who said that their facility needed some tender loving care and would love to see it freshened up.

Mr Anderson said “I gave them the commitment that if there was any funding available for the maintenance required at Manellae Lodge then I would do my best to make sure it happened. It’s great to see that the funding has been released.

“Today I was joined by Manilla Health Service Manager Rose Foale and Chair of the local health service committee Peter Dutton. I am delighted to say that $76,240 has been allocated from the Ministers office and $120,000 from Hunter New England Local Health District, taking the total amount of funding to $196,240.

“The refurbishment will include a new coat of paint, new blinds and built in wardrobes in each of the 20 rooms which will brighten their rooms and common areas.

“It is important to ensure that our aged care facilities feel like a home away from home for residents so I am delighted to be able to provide the funding for this work to be done.

“Our smaller hospitals play a vital role in our communities, and improving our local health services is part of my vision for building a better region” Mr Anderson concluded.
