Since the Budget was announced there has been much good news for working families. The NSW Government is providing a leg-up for working parents, regardless of where they live. Leslie Williams MP, Minister for Early Childhood Education, has recently secured significant funding for several programs ensuring no child gets left behind.

Increased funding to before and after school care, and to preschool programs will give more and more families access to these important services. Grants to at least 1,000 primary schools will create 45,000 new before and after school places, ensuring families are not hindered by lack of sufficient care outside school hours.

In more good news, an additional $20 million has been allocated to Long Day Care services to increase participation in preschool programs for four and five-year-old children in the year before school. This funding is enabling children to have better access to early education regardless of the type of service they attend.
