Local visual artists encouraged to apply for NSW Government fellowship
Local visual artists embarking on their careers are encouraged to apply for a $30,000 NSW Government Visual Arts Fellowship.
Clarence Nationals MP, Chris Gulaptis said the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is providing funding as part of its commitment to supporting the professional development of artists in our State.
“The fellowship is open to visual artists at the beginning of their careers and will support a self-directed program of professional development that might include travel, a mentorship or internship, residencies, courses, workshops, research or the creation of new work.
“This is a terrific opportunity for emerging visual artists to gain recognition for their work, exhibit it in an internationally recognised arts centre and receive support for their professional development.
“I encourage visual artists from across the Northern Rivers region to apply for this fellowship,” he said.
Mr Gulaptis said a shortlist of up to 12 artists will be selected by an independent panel of peers managed by Arts NSW. The artists’ works will be exhibited at Artspace, Sydney from 12 November to 18 December 2015.
Applications for the NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging) close on 18 May, 2015 with the successful candidate expected to be announced at the exhibition opening.
