Local musicians set to soar
Thanks to the NSW Government, local musicians could soon have the chance to showcase their talents on a global stage.
In partnership with MusicNSW, the Opportunity Development Grants Program is searching for gifted artists and their managers to apply for funding which would allow them to develop contacts within the industry and promote their music to overseas markets and producers.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Arts, Troy Grant, said he hoped the grant would build awareness of our State’s brilliant musicians to international audiences and industry legends.
“The NSW Government wants to help get our musicians ready to take on the world and I urge talented musicians to submit an application.
“This funding can be used to bring our local musicians to the attention of notable producers, presenters and industry professionals with overseas connections, the success of local artists in overseas markets helps Australia’s contemporary music industry grow and evolve,” Mr Grant said.
The funding can be used to help artists land major tour support slots, cover travel costs and accommodation, take advantage of a unique performance opportunity or attend workshops which will help develop the professional skills necessary to operate and succeed at an international level.
Musicians and managers from across the state are invited to apply for up to $850 for each individual within the act, with a total of up to $5,500 per group. Round 2 applications are open from Monday 18th of July and close on Tuesday 8th of September.
The application details and guidelines are available at www.musicnsw.com.
