Local member continues fight for education dollars

Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries has shown no signs of slowing down after announcing his intention to not recontest his seat at the 2019 election, last week announcing $2.1 million in upgrades for Narrabri Public School.

The funds will go towards upgrading the administrative hub of the school as well as significant landscaping projects on the grounds. This funding is in addition to the $8.8 million boost for public schools in Barwon.

Narrabri Public has also recently benefited from $60,000 to update doors and flooring and was praised during the visit by Education Minister Rob Stokes for its learning initiatives.

The initiatives aim to better integrate assessments into daily learning, improve reading parameters and its excellent tracking of students’ progress and development using the Department of Education’s PLAN Tool, an initiative announced and developed by former Education Minister and Member for Murray, Adrian Piccoli in 2012.
