Local issues to be in focus at Southern Regional Conference
Following the success of the Northern Regional Conference at the end of last year, it’s time to get excited for the next Regional Conference down south, in Griffith.
The revival of Regional Conferences allows our members to discuss issues which are important to them locally.
Last year the Regional Conference in Lismore, held on 10 December, was enjoyed by over 120 members from right across the North Coast. They enjoyed a mix of political workshops, breakout sessions and heard from a host of interesting and engaging guest speakers; locally and from afar.
Held in Lismore, it allowed North Coast locals to raise issues which really mattered to them, particular ones unique to this special part of New South Wales. For example, the move to allow the use of medicinal cannabinoids for treating cancer and epilepsy was a popular topic of debate and strongly supported.
Members were also treated to addresses by our new NSW Nationals Leader, John Barilaro, Nationals Leader Barnaby Joyce and Deputy Leader Fiona Nash, all of whom had a wonderful time engaging with grassroots members at a scrumptious dinner afterwards.
With such a successful revival of the Regional Conference model, the Southern Regional Conference on Saturday 18 March is set to be a cracker. Plans are currently underway and it’s shaping up to be an excellent event, so don’t wait to RSVP.
The conference kicks off at 9:00am on the Saturday and tickets can be purchased for $20. As for the dinner at Exies
Later, dinner will be at Exies Bagtown, with tickets available for $50 (members) and $100 (non-members). Contact Briony on 02 9299 5811 or send an email to RSVP@nswnationals.org.au to let us know if you can make it.
