Kevin's Tamworth talk
It’s been a busy first half of the year in the Tamworth electorate and it’s not showing any signs of slowing down with the latest NSW Budget funding more major infrastructure projects.
What's been delivered has not been lost on our local community, with many people stopping me in the street or at events and saying that there is a noticeable difference in the number of projects being delivered now compared to six years ago.
To hear people say that out loud is a rewarding experience as an MP, it is a balancing act to ensure you are delivering what the community wants and feedback is sometimes hard to come by, so it’s pleasing to hear that this Government is on track and together we're doing the best job for the people of this electorate.
Key projects due to get off the ground in this financial year include the Northern Inland Centre of Sporting Excellence, a new Police Station for Gunnedah, the Gunnedah Second Overpass, Stage 2 of the Manilla Road upgrade and new boarding facilities for Farrer High School, just to name a few.
With the Stronger Country Community Fund now available I’ve wasted no time to speak to my local community to identify the projects that they want most. Already the response has been incredible and I believe people will embrace this grassroots style program that gives locals a direct opportunity to shape the future of their community.
I want our community to have the infrastructure that they only ever dreamed of which is why I continue to fight hard for every dollar we can get to build for generations to come.
But we are not just focused on record investment in regional infrastructure. I want to ensure that we are doing whatever we can to help those who are vulnerable in our community and continue to fight for the people of the Tamworth electorate who trust me to support them when they need it most.
We have a unique opportunity under this Government to see real action and real outcomes for our regional communities and I will continue to take advantage of that opportunity.
Lastly, I would like to take a moment to thank our local National Party members. You all fought hard to get me here and nothing makes me more proud than to represent our electorate with your support which allows me to deliver for our local community.
