The 87th Annual Manilla Show had many guests, among them our very own local MPs Kevin Anderson and Barnaby Joyce. Kevin had the official task of opening the Show, and crowds continued to pour through the gates to meet Barnaby in the afternoon.
The day’s program was very full, including an extensive Pavilion Program, pulling large crowds in to examine the exhibits. With categories like baking, fine arts, handicraft, photography and farm produce, many prizes were awarded to talented locals.
Later in the day the Young Farmers Challenge did not disappoint. Designed to showcase young people on the land, a few Young Nationals put up their hands to compete, flying our flag loud and proud, while the young at heart members watched on.
A couple of traditional country tasks needed to be completed in record time. These included swag rolling, reversing a ute with trailer, and stacking hay bales. Unfortunately our Young Nats team came out second best and did not receive the $600 in prizemoney that was up for grabs.
Thanks to all the wonderful Nats who were there on the day to proudly represent the Party.
