Kendall tennis club scores with funding windfall

Deputy Premier Troy Grant and Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams have announced the Kendall Tennis Club will receive $205,000 for the completion of the clubhouse as part of the expansion of the much needed tennis facilities.

“The Kendall Tennis Club is an important sport and recreation facility for the local community and the completion of the Clubhouse will significantly enhance the facility and enable increased use and participation, particularly for children, youth and people with disabilities,” Mrs Williams said

“For decades the Club has provided a facility that promotes social inclusion, health and well-being through the provision of programs and activities that cater for the broad demographics of the Camden Haven and beyond.

“This funding is well deserved and the Club’s Committee led by President Wendy Hudson should be very proud of what they have achieved for the members.

“While Kendall is one of the most progressive tennis club’s in regional Australia, it has been fighting for years to get enough funding to increase the number of courts from three to eight and to construct an accessible clubhouse for members and the needs of the broader community.

“I have been working very closely with Wendy and her Committee to try and secure much needed funding for the expansion and I welcome this funding boost,” Mrs Williams said.

Deputy Premier Troy Grant said he was impressed by the dedication and determination of the Kendall Tennis Club Committee and its members to provide vastly improved facilities including a new clubhouse.

“It is a credit to the Committee that the Club has continued to grow despite limited courts and inadequate facilities at their current site,” Mr Grant said.

“It is important young people are given opportunities to participate in sport and other community activities and Kendall Tennis Club will now be a place for everyone to enjoy.

“I commend Leslie and her dedication to this project for tirelessly campaigning to see the result we are announcing today. I look forward to visiting the Club when the upgrade is complete,” Mr Grant said.
