Organisers of the Forbes Show picked a glorious weekend to hold their 140th, and while a handy pun doesn’t Spring to mind it must be said that the perfect weather and warm sun skies brought some welcome relief from a particularly brisk winter. The Travelling Nats were there alongside plenty of local branch members and supporters to listen, swap stories and bring community issues to the fore.
The local Member for Orange Andrew Gee spent the Friday amongst the crowds, sampling a few sweets and chatting to the constituents from Forbes and surrounds. The new chairman of Forbes Branch, Mark Pietsch made sure to give Andrew the full show experience however, courtesy of the thrillseeker’s favourite – The SlingShot.
In what seemed like a blast from the past, Forbes Show also hosted a jousting competition and demonstration with lances, armour and all. This was an interesting departure from your typical rodeo, allowing show goers the chance to step back into the Late Middle Ages when the sport was most popular with both the nobility of England and Germany.
But jousting aside, we’d like to thank all the branch members who manned the stall throughout the show or stopped by for a friendly hello - it’s greatly appreciated! Many of these members also helped out with other local groups and societies including the CWA, Rotary Club and Neighbourhood Watch, which greatly reflects the community spirit of our branches and members across the state. At the end of the day, this is what being a National Party member is all about – caring for your community and being active in its interests.
If you’d like a hand to organise a stand at your local show or field day, we’re always ready and willing! Give Alana a call at the office on 02 9299 5811 or send her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
