• Achievements

  For the past 12 months the Government has been working hard to deliver its commitments and build the infrastructure needed to make regional NSW number one again.

  The Government’s first objective was to fix the Budget black hole and build a strong and sustainable economy.  We have maintained the state’s AAA credit rating with responsible economic and financial management.  We have provided payroll tax rebates to create 100,000 new jobs including 40,000 in regional NSW.  Importantly we’ve made it easier for business by implementing national OH&S laws.

  At the same time we have invested in returning quality services by negotiating $438 million in funding from the Commonwealth Health and Hospitals Fund to the upgrade of Tamworth, Bega, Albury, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga Hospitals. Across the state we have delivered 565 more hospital beds, hired 1,011 nurses, and begun the recruitment of an additional 550 police officers and 900 new literacy and numeracy teachers.
