Member for Monaro John Barilaro has welcomed new figures out today which show the progress of the new Liberal and Nationals Government in NSW.
"Since the NSW Liberals & Nationals were elected, there are 18,000 more jobs in NSW and 38,000 more jobs nation-wide, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics." Mr Barilaro said.
"In other words, NSW has created around half of the nation’s jobs since the Liberals & Nationals were elected."
While the NSW economy continues to face challenges, there are encouraging signs with the unemployment rate falling and business confidence improving above the national average.
"The O’Farrell-Stoner Government is getting on with the job of rebuilding the NSW economy through our record infrastructure spend and Jobs Action Plan," Mr Barilaro said.
"We are spending $7 billion more on infrastructure in the first 4 years than Labor did in its last 4 years"
In its December outlook, Deloitte Economics said: “NSW’s economic growth may well (just) outpace Victoria’s this financial year: something it hasn’t done for a decade.”
"These figures clearly show how that our plans for NSW are working and progress is being made." Mr Barilaro said.
"We have a lot of work to do to turn this economy around after a decade of the slowest economic growth of any major State under NSW Labor."
"The turnaround will not be quick, but it will be done. It is clear that the Liberals and Nationals are achieving our objective of making NSW number one again."
