Finishing the Pacific Highway

The Nationals began the Pacific Highway duplication in 1989. After sixteen years of Labor government the project is well behind schedule, but we’re already making the necessary commitments to ensure dual carriageway from Sydney to the border is completed as soon as possible.

In our 2011 budget we pledged an additional $468 million for the upgrade, which made NSW eligible for matching funding from the federal government. The end result was almost $1 billion of new money for the highway – in contrast to the efforts of the last Labor government who stripped $300 million from the project in 2008.
