Bungendore Show
Member for Monaro John Barilaro opened up the show season with a successful presence at the Bungendore Show on January 29th. There was a very positive response from constituents with many individuals expressing a satisfaction with the new Government and John's performance as the new local member. This was John's first stall as the local member, in previous years the Nationals had successfully manned stalls in opposition to the former Labor member.…

Steve Cansdell Tribute Dinner
On Saturday the 4th of September over 130 people attended a dinner at the Grafton Jockey Club to pay to the work of the former Member for Clarence, Steve Cansdell. Steve resigned late in 2011 after admitting to falsifying a statutory declaration in relation to a speeding offence. None of those present excused Steve’s mistake, but all felt that he deserved recognition for his eight years of tireless work for the community. Community leaders, including former Richmond Police Commander Bruce “Bluey” Lyons and local pastor Greg Holder spoke of Steve’s extraordinary compassion and dedication to his constituents, and especially of his work with young people.…

Nationals at the Parkes Elvis Festival
State member for Dubbo, Troy Grant MP, entered a NSW Nationals themed float in the Parkes Elvis Festival last weekend. Local party members gave a lending hand to help celebrate ‘The King’s’ 77th birthday. The day was a tremendous success with an estimated 15,000 people travelling from around the country to line the streets for the annual parade.…

The Young Nats at the Orange Picnic Races
After a week of wet weather the prediction of more rain on Saturday didn’t do much to dampen the spirits and numbers of 2,500 attendees at this weekend’s race meet at Towac Park in Orange. The sunny day and firm turf surface saw punters from across the state take bets on the competitive racing field and from all accounts a great time was had by all. This year the NSW Young Nationals hosted a tent at the races for the first time. The Hon John Cobb MP and Andrew Gee MP kindly joined us in the tent and chatted with Young Nationals and friends of the Party alike.…

MDBA Regional Meetings
State and Federal Nationals MPs have been organising and participating in meetings across the Murray Darling Basin to ensure that the plan reflects the needs of our primary producers, irrigators, businesses and community groups. The formal consultation period concludes on the 16th of April. Details on how to make a formal submission are here. Troy Grant MP and the Minister for Primary Industries, Katrina Hodgkinson, have met with stakeholders across the Murray Darling Basin to enable additional community input for the NSW Government's response. These meetings were held at Finley, Leeton, Forbes, Dubbo, Narrabri, Moree and Corowa. Details of the issues raised can be found here. The Murray Darling Basin Authority has held regional meetings across the Basin throughout the 20-week consultation period, with two remaining. The Adelaide meeting will be held on the 3rd of April 2012. The Hay consultation has been postponed due to the floods and will be rescheduled. View the MDBA calendar for more details.
