Spencer joined the Nationals during the rise of the Greiner/Murray Coalition and took part in the National Party election campaigns across NSW. 

He is a lawyer in a private practice in Sydney.  He has operated branch offices in different towns and cities in NSW and regularly travels across NSW in the course of his profession.

Spencer is a firm believer in the Nationals' free enterprise conservative ethics and supports advancement by personal effort and responsibility.  He believes in small government and positive government support of private enterprise.

He is married and lives in Sydney with his wife and family. Spencer commutes to electorates as is required by light aircraft giving ready access to the whole of the Party across the State.

Spencer has been a Member of Central Council, Central Executive and is presently the Treasurer of the Party.
