Hunter tourism recovery to receive a boost

Michael Johnsen MP, Member for the Upper Hunter, has welcomed a support and promotional package worth over $1 million from the NSW Government to assist the Hunter tourism industry after last month’s storms.

The funding will go towards creating new marketing campaigns and building existing campaigns to promote the region, as well as extensive support on digital and social media.

“These storms took a heavy toll on our communities, and the tourism industry was hit particularly hard in the Dungog district,” Mr Johnsen said.

“The NSW Government has listened to the concerns of the Dungog community and it will be receiving funding to further support the wonderful Dungog Festival, which will be held in October from 22nd to 25th.

“This extensive package will promote the wide range of natural and cultural attractions we have to offer and make sure people across Australia are picking up the phone or getting online to book a trip to the Hunter,” Mr Johnsen said.

The funding and support will be provided by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

“We will continue to support this vital industry and look forward to seeing the Upper Hunter electorate thrive once again,” Mr. Johnsen said.
