Grafton's Hockey Club gets a facelift

The Grafton Hockey Club's newly upgraded clubhouse has been re-opened today, with the upgrade set to provide a boost to grassroots sport in the region.

Speaking at the opening today, Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said the upgrade was fantastic for the club.

“Twenty jobs were created during this upgrade, and the Club used locally sourced products and services. It is great to see the clubhouse back in action and I can't wait to see it used by hockey groups and the broader community,” Mr Hogan said.

Mr Hogan said the upgraded clubhouse will assist the hockey club to grow its membership and profile.

“The upgraded function area with service kitchen and bar will provide the community with a venue for hire. In turn, this will help the region attract larger competitions such as state titles, improving the financial stability of the Club,” Mr Hogan said.

Minister for Regional Development and Nationals Deputy Leader Fiona Nash said the Coalition Government's investment showed the Coalition's commitment to regional areas.

“I aim to build the kinds of communities our children and grandchildren want to either stay in or come back to, and improving local sporting facilities does just that,” Minister Nash said.

This project was fully funded by the Coalition Government, which invested $560,000.
