Grafton Jacaranda Festival to benefit from funding
The Grafton Jacaranda Festival Committee will receive $20,000 through the NSW Government’s 2017 Flagship Event Fund to help stage the 83rd Jacaranda Festival, Clarence Nationals MP, Chris Gulaptis announced today.
Mr Gulaptis said the Fund provides grants to support marketing activities that drive overnight visitation to Regional NSW.
“The Flagship Event Fund is a terrific NSW Government initiative and part of our renewed commitment to boost regional economies through tourism and major events,” he said.
“Events such as the Jacaranda Festival play a fundamental role in attracting new and returning visitors to our regional towns, bringing with them additional business to restaurants and cafes, local tourism operators, attractions and accommodation providers.
“The Jacaranda Festival is a significant annual event with strong traditions that are positively embraced by the local community and bring tourists from far and wide.
“The vision of the Festival Committee is to reinvigorate the festival and bring new and vibrant ideas to the table so it continues to draw visitors to the Jacaranda City into the future.
“The Flagship Event Fund represents Regional NSW at its best, with local communities coming together to stage events that showcase the unique character, culture and attributes of their region.
“I congratulate the Jacaranda Festival on its efforts in developing the tourism industry and contributing to the future of the Clarence Valley community with economic sustainability.
“I encourage everyone to start planning a holiday to Grafton to experience this fantastic regional event,” Mr Gulaptis said.
The 2017 Flagship Event Fund is managed by the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
