George re-elected by the people
Thomas George has thanked the people of Lismore for re-electing him as their local Member. “I thank the people of the Lismore electorate for once again placing their trust in me – I won’t let you down,” Mr George said.
The Nationals secured the electorate of Lismore with a two-party preferred vote of close to 52 per cent, and a primary vote of more than 42pc.
“The results of having Lismore electorate at the heart of a Nationals government during the last four years have been clear.
“It means that we’ve finally got the record funding required to redevelop the Lismore Base Hospital, which is something that I will work hard every single day to deliver during the next four years.
“But I recognise – in the clearest possible terms – that the people of Lismore used their preferences to direct a protest vote on CSG to The Greens.
“There is clearly not community consensus for this industry to proceed in the Lismore electorate.
“I have a vision that we will see the end of the Labor-issued CSG licences, which have divided our community for far too long.
“I will now work closely with the Deputy Premier and the Premier to make that a reality.”
Mr George said he will now get straight back to work on delivering upon his commitments to the Lismore electorate.
“This is the difference with The Nationals – we’re not just about one issue, we’re about delivering on all issues that impact regional NSW,” Mr George said.
“With The Nationals returned to government, Lismore will now continue to have a strong voice – on every issue – at the decision-making table of the Baird Government.
As the newly re-elected Member for Lismore, I look forward to working with the whole community to represent the electorate’s needs and concerns.
