Funding for ocean pool report

Nationals Parliamentary Secretary of Northern NSW, Ben Franklin today announced that Ballina Shire Council will receive a grant of $50,000 to go towards the engineering and environmental report as part of the approval process for an ocean pool at Shelly Beach.

“Ballina Council passed a resolution unanimously supporting this pool. They sent a delegation to Sydney to meet with then Lands Minister, the Hon Niall Blair MLC, Local Member of the Legislative Council, Catherine Cusack and myself late last year,” said Mr Franklin.

“They asked for support to help complete the required reports as part of the approval process. I was happy to take up the issue on their behalf and strongly lobbied the government for the funds.

“I am delighted that today I am able to support the community in this way,” said Mr Franklin.

Once the reports have been completed, Ballina Council will then be responsible for the acquisition and allocation of any further funding required and how to best proceed with the ocean pool at Shelly Beach.
