Fibre roll-out reaches Bathurst
Bathurst will be the big winners from the NBN Co roll-out announcement according to Federal Member for Calare John Cobb.
“NBN Co has released the latest version of its 18-month roll-out plan revealing more than 13,700 premises in Bathurst and surrounding areas will likely have access to fibre-to-the- node (FTTN) internet services,” Mr Cobb said.
“Areas such as Eglinton, Gormans Hill, Kelso, Llanarth, Mitchell, Raglan, Robin Hill, South Bathurst, West Bathurst, White Rock, Windradyne and Abercrombie are all set to benefit from this announcement.”
NBN Co has revealed construction will begin at these sites between April 2015 and September 2016.
“Access to the NBN will transform the way homes and businesses communicate, do business and access online services and I’m pleased that we’re starting to enjoy fast and reliable internet services that have not often been available to us in the country,” Mr Cobb said.
In terms of premises passed by the NBN Co’s networks, the NBN Co now reaches 921,000 premises across all access technologies, up from 345,000 at the election.
In terms of active customers, the NBN Co now has 306,000 premises connected to its fixed line network (up from 47,000 as at the election) and 34,000 premises connected to its fixed wireless network (up from 2,000 as at the election).
“The arrival of the NBN will mean that fantastic opportunities will be extended to all Australians, regardless of where they live,” Mr Cobb said.
NBN Co provides monthly updates on its website showing areas that have reached build preparation, build commencement and that are ready for service.
