Eleventh hour brainwave from Labor

Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay today described an eleventh hour announcement from Labor of $247 million for roads in the North Coast as laughable and an insult to the local communities.

“Labor abandoned the people of the North and left a litany of unfinished and broken infrastructure in their wake,” Mr Gay said.

“The North Coast is not a priority for Labor - they made their regional infrastructure announcement weeks ago, why wasn’t the North Coast mentioned then?

“Mind you, this is the same announcement that would slash funding for regional roads and bridges by 73 per cent – a bloody insult in my books.

“What’s more - if this was real, you might think the Opposition Leader would have announced this himself when he was here yesterday. Did he forget?

“Labor are the people who, other than issuing CSG licences, did not know where the North Coast was until three weeks ago.

“Only a Liberals & Nationals Government has invested in the North Coast - a lot more than Labor did in 16 years of Government.

“Our record is one of commitment and delivery – Labor’s is one of broken promise and blatant inaction.

“They are taking the people of the North Coast for fools. But we all know, Labor promises one thing before an election and delivers nothing afterwards,” Mr Gay said.
