Disaster assistance for wild weather

Getting back on your feet after a natural disaster can be a challenge. Fortunately, disaster assistance funding has been made available for quite a number of regional Local Government Areas after the floods in June and July this year. Clean-up and recovery grants are available to help businesses, including farm businesses to resume trading as soon as possible.

Operating as a joint Federal and State Government program, the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) provides a range of financial assistance to natural disaster declared areas in each state or territory.

The available assistance measures include:

  • personal hardship and distress assistance
  • restoration of essential public assets
  • counter disaster operations
  • concessional loans for small businesses, primary producers and voluntary non-profit organisations
  • freight subsidies for primary producers
  • grants for voluntary non-profit organisations

The above assistance may be available in the following local government areas: Bland, Bathurst, Bogan, Cabonne, Carrathool, Coolamon, Coonamble, Cowra, Forbes, Hilltops, Narrandera, Narromine, Oberon, Orange, Parkes, Upper Lachlan and Warren.

The best way to see if you qualify and to access emergency assistance is though the Emergency NSW Disaster Welfare Assistance Line - 1800 018 444.
