Bringing Jobs For NSW to Port Macquarie
Deputy Premier and Minister for Small Business, John Barilaro, joined the Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams, to encourage local entrepreneurs and fast-growing businesses to apply for funding under the NSW Governments $190 million Jobs for NSW fund.
Mrs Williams said she had arranged the visit today for the Deputy Premier and officials from the NSW Government-backed, private sector led Jobs for NSW to showcase the region and to encourage more jobs and growth in high-potential business sectors.
“I’ve invited Jobs for NSW CEO, Karen Borg together with the Deputy Premier to the Mid North Coast Forum to provide insights on how local entrepreneurs and fast-growing businesses can benefit from Jobs for NSW’s assistance,” Mrs Williams said.
“The NSW Government is investing $190 million through the Jobs for NSW fund over four years to help start-ups and fast-growing small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) succeed and create more jobs for our State.
A minimum of 30 per cent of the fund, equal to $57 million, will be invested in regional NSW to stimulate opportunities being created by local start-ups and SMEs.
Mr Barilaro said Jobs for NSW offers five financial products to assist regional businesses at different stages of their development. This includes the Regional Solutions grant that is targeted at businesses that plan to create a minimum 10 full time jobs in regional NSW within two years.
“The financial products are designed to help companies grow their business and create jobs in local communities. If a business is not eligible for one product they may be eligible for another so I encourage businesses in the region to find out more,” Mr Barilaro said.
Ms Borg said she was excited to meet with business owners in Port Macquarie and learn more about local innovation efforts.
“Regional job creation is a prime focus for Jobs for NSW and we want to help grow the rich talent that we know exists on the Mid North Coast,” Ms Borg said.
