Bellingen Shire Council to receive tourism funding

Visitors to Glennifer near Bellingen will soon be able to encounter a new, digital tourism experience thanks to a funding boost from the NSW Government.

Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey said Bellingen Shire Council had secured $50,000 from the NSW Government through its Regional Tourism Fund and will pay for interpretive signage aimed at improving the visitor experience.

“As one of the top five tourist attractions in the Bellingen Shire, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Glennifer Reserves will benefit from NSW Government funding, aimed at boosting local economies through marketing and product development support,” Mrs Pavey said.

“The Glennifer Reserves comprise of four different reserves within Glennifer Valley which make for a popular place for tourists to stop for a swim or picnic and to experience its stunning scenery and accessibility.

“The new interpretive signage will not only complement the Reserves’ natural surroundings but will aim to educate visitors on the local environment through integrated digital technology and links to video content.

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the Regional Tourism Fund is part of the Government’s strategy to turbocharge tourism across the State.

“Driving visitation in rural and regional NSW is a top priority and we are committing record funding to allow this industry to grow and grow,” Mr Marshall said.

“As a country-based Minister I am determined to ensure every part of NSW reaps the benefits of our record investment. I congratulate Bellingen Shire Council on this wonderful initiative.”

The Regional Tourism Fund is managed and administered by the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, and is part of the NSW Government’s record funding commitment of $43 million over four years.

The Fund provides investment into the regional visitor economy on a matched dollar-for-dollar basis. For more information on the Regional Tourism Fund go to
