Barilaro to lead NSW Nationals

I have been privileged to be asked to lead the NSW Nationals and be sworn in as the Deputy Premier of this great State.

It is an honour which I have accepted with immense pride and one which I take very seriously.

I commit to representing the people in my community, the Members of The Nationals, and this great NSW Coalition Government.

I would like to thank the people of the Monaro who elected me to represent them in NSW Parliament, the oldest parliament in the country – I vow to continue representing you to the best of my ability and to work hard for you each day.

I congratulate the Deputy Leader Niall Blair, whom I look forward to working very closely with to restore the faith in our base, the people across regional NSW and our National Party Members of Parliament.

I thank my colleagues for their show of support and I am committed to working with the Premier to deliver the best outcomes for our regions.

Thanks also must be extended to our former leader and Deputy Premier, Troy Grant, for what he has done for the communities across regional NSW – his legacy will be one of a fighter and a champion of regional NSW. I have no doubt that he will continue to be a loyal and hardworking representative for the people of Dubbo in Macquarie Street.

I also acknowledge the work of Adrian Piccoli as the previous Deputy Leader of the NSW Nationals and Minister for Education. The commitment and the effort he has made to delivering for the people in this great State has been unwavering.

Last but certainly not least, I would also like to thank my family. I have the most loving and supportive family unit and I am so grateful for their commitment as I step up to take on this great challenge.

I’m proud of what the NSW Nationals have achieved so far, building the hospitals, roads and schools our communities need to keep them strong. However I know there is always more to be done and we must work to regain the trust and rebuild the reputation of the NSW Nationals as proud representatives of regional NSW.
