Member for Lismore Thomas George has announced the Asia Pacific Football Institute operated by Southern Cross University will receive $25,000 towards the purchase of portable grandstand seating.

“I am delighted that the Asia Pacific Football Institute has received this funding as it is an important facility for our local sporting community,” Mr George said.

This funding will enable the institute to begin the purchase of portable grandstand seating and allow the facility to become more user friendly to the public.

“The institute already has a FIFA two star rated Synthetic Pitch, change rooms and office,” Mr George said.

“Today’s announcement will allow the Institute to begin unlocking the economic benefits of the facility, while helping enhance the skills of the regions young footballers.”

“The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is committed to investing in important local facilities to ensure our community continues to thrive.”

Last year the Asia Pacific Football Institute appointed Scott Collis as its new general manager.

“Today’s funding announcement provides a welcome boost to the Institutes future,” Mr Collis said.

“The site has the potential to attract international teams and is an important step forward in achieving this goal.”
