Applications open for regional tourism funding

The Member for the Dubbo electorate Troy Grant has announced that the 2015-16 Regional Visitor Economy Fund (RVEF) is open to receive applications from the Regional NSW tourism industry.

Mr Grant said the funds available for the 2015-16 financial year total $7.2 million, which is part of the $21.6 million record funding commitment announced by the NSW Government in 2012.

“The Dubbo electorate has many quality tourism attractions from the winery’s in the Mudgee region to Historic Gulgong, the Caves in Wellington, the Old Dubbo Goal, Dundullimal Homestead and of course the nationally recognized Taronga Western Plains Zoo to name a few,”

Applications for the 2015-16 RVEF are now open and I encourage our local tourism industry to take advantage of our NSW Government funding to help drive visitation to our beautiful region,” Mr Grant said.

“Tourism is a vital input to our regional economy. The more people we can attract to experience our region and spend money while they are here the better.

“This initiative provides a great opportunity for the tourism businesses within our local community to further develop their product within the domestic and international marketplace and I encourage those to apply soon so they don’t miss out,” he said.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said: “The RVEF, administered by our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, provides investment into the regional visitor economy on a matched dollar-for-dollar basis, and supports projects that contribute to achieving our goal of doubling overnight visitor expenditure to NSW by 2020.”
