Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has announced that the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre have received a grant of $10,000 to construct additional water troughs at the AELEC sports precinct.
Mr Anderson was joined by Tamworth Regional Council Mayor Cr Col Murray and Tamworth Sports Precinct Manager Mike Rowland to make the announcement at AELEC.
“AELEC is a world class facility and it was a pleasure to be able to support Tamworth Regional Council in their request for funding.
“The centre is used for many major events throughout the year, with more than 270 utilised days for the facility.
“There are also more than 13,000 head of cattle that move through the centre each year and it is important to be able to have the capacity to be able to host the increase in livestock usage.
“With growing demand for the use of AELEC this grant ensures that the facility can grow.
“This grant will assist in building a better region by supporting AELEC to provide for more livestock and bring more events to our region and in turn will support our local businesses and boost our local economy,” Mr Anderson said.
Tamworth Sports Precinct Manager Mike Rowland said that the money will ensure that AELEC remains at an international standard.
“Given the growth of events and events involving livestock using AELEC, it is important that we can service our event organisers and their livestock in the most professional manner and these water troughs will assist in doing that,” Mr Rowland said.
