Member for Murray

Adrian has been a member of The Nationals for over 20 years and has served the people of South-Western NSW in State Parliament since being elected in 1999. Adrian also served as the Deputy Leader of the NSW Nationals from 2008 to 2016.

Born and raised in Griffith, Adrian knows the area like the back of his hand and has continually defended his electorate working hard to deliver for his region.

In 2011 Adrian was appointed as the Minister for Education, a role he held for six years. He was the first country MP to hold the portfolio in 35 years and during this time he built a strong reputation developing needs-based initiatives improving outcomes for regional students.

As Minister for Education, Adrian worked closely with teachers and the Board of Studies to implement the first changes to the Higher School Certificate in close to 20 years. He has also championed the Gonski funding reforms, greater local decision-making by principals and driving improvements in teaching.

Adrian holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University in Canberra and worked as a solicitor while running his family farm before entering politics. He is married to Sonia and together they live in Griffith with their two children.
