Additional funding for Taree Showground

Further upgrading work at Taree Showground will continue thanks to a further grant announced today by the Federal Government.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie today met with members of the Manning River Agricultural & Horticultural Society to announce funding of $7,343 towards a $20,908 project to undertake stable roof repairs at the Taree Showground.

“This project will remove the old rusted roof, guttering, down-pipes and battens on the old stables, and replace with new battens, Colorbond roof, guttering and drainage,” Dr Gillespie said.

“It’s an important project for the agricultural society and I’m delighted they have taken the opportunity to submit a funding application to help undertake this project.”

Earlier this year, Dr Gillespie visited showground to meet with members of the and announce a grant of $8,000 under the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities programme towards a $19,403 upgrade of the showground’s drainage, water and sewerage systems.

The Australian Government’s Stronger Communities programme assists with the development of small capital projects that deliver social benefits by supporting community participation, while also contributing to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.

Grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 are available under the programme. More information about the Stronger Communities programme can be found at
