Regional Tourism expands to Overseas Markets

Member for Lismore Thomas George and Minister for Regional Tourism John Barilaro have announced North Coast Destination Network’s promotion of the Legendary Pacific Coast touring route to international and domestic visitors has received a $693,000 boost.

Member for Lismore Thomas George and Minister for Regional Tourism John Barilaro today announced North Coast Destination Network’s promotion of the Legendary Pacific Coast touring route to international and domestic visitors has received a $693,000 boost.

“The funding is in addition to $52,500 the Government has already committed to support a co-operative marketing campaign between North Coast Destination Network and Wotif.com, which brings the total Government contribution to $693,000,” Mr George said.

“Of the total funding, $413,000 will be dedicated to a co-operative domestic marketing campaign that features Lismore and surrounding tourism centres in the region as key destinations,” he said.

“Murwillumbah, Lismore, and the village corridor in between have some of the most picturesque views in our State, with colourful markets and exciting activities, and we want to promote that to the rest of the country and the world.

“A further $227,000 will be contributed to an international marketing program that will help drive sales of tourism products from the Lismore area in lucrative overseas markets such as Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, USA and New Zealand.

“North Coast Destination Network will host a series of workshops to help tourism businesses in the Lismore area develop expertise to work with inbound tour operators to sell North Coast tourism products in key international markets.

“These campaigns will not only increase the profile of our area, but will also encourage visitors to book a visit to our stunning region.”

Mr Barilaro said: “Regional tourism is a vital contributor to the State’s economy, with Regional NSW receiving 50.4 million international and domestic overnight and day trip visitors who spent $13.3 billion last year,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The Legendary Pacific Coast is one of Australia’s iconic journeys that will benefit from the NSW Government’s Regional Visitor Economy Fund (RVEF) to drive visitation to this region and support economic growth in our regional communities,” he said.
