Calare big winners from Heavy Vehicle Safety funding announcement

Federal Member for Calare John Cobb has today announced that Cabonne Council has successfully applied for funding under the Bridges Renewal Programme.

“I’m delighted to reveal that Cabonne Shire Council’s application has been approved and this project will contribute to the productivity of bridges serving the Cabonne community, and will facilitate higher productivity vehicle access,” Mr Cobb said.

“Cabonne Shire Council will receive $945,000 for work on Hanover Bridge. Government contributions will be matched dollar-for-dollar and I believe this is not only a necessary investment in safety, it has economic and industrial benefits as well.”

Mr Cobb said the Federal Government has committed $300 million over five years to the Bridges Renewal Programme.

It’s hoped that round two of the programme will be opened soon with a view to having projects approved early in the 2015-2016 financial year.
