Deputy Premier Troy Grant and Member for Monaro John Barilaro have announced a re-elected NSW Liberals & Nationals Government will invest more than $5 million to redevelop Braidwood Multi-Purpose Service (MPS).
“Braidwood MPS delivers compassionate care and comfort to many in the community and this investment is well-deserved,” Mr Grant said.
“Work on this project will commence in the next term if the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is re-elected on March 28.
“Multi-Purpose Services are much-loved in communities across NSW because of the tailored health care they provide and Braidwood is no different.”
The Braidwood MPS project is funded from Rebuilding NSW.
Mr Barilaro said planning for the project will get underway in the second term of the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government to ensure it delivers the right level of care for our community.
“Only the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government can be trusted to deliver enhanced health services for rural communities,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Braidwood MPS is cherished by our community and this redevelopment will give it the boost it needs to care for locals well into the future.
“I have long been an advocate of the services provided by Braidwood MPS and I’m pleased the government has heard my call and is investing in its future.
“The staff here deserve to provide their first-class care in a first-class facility, which is what this upgrade will deliver.
“Labor has no credibility when it comes to enhancing rural health services – we are getting on with the job of ensuring our communities have the facilities they deserve.”
Health Minister Jillian Skinner said the NSW Government has invested almost $5 billion in the redevelopment of hospitals and health facilities in its first term.
“The Baird Government is committed to ensuring rural and remote communities have access to quality health care closer to home and this announcement is a good example of this commitment in action,” Mrs Skinner said.
“If re-elected, the Baird Government will make a record investment of more than $5 billion in infrastructure to make our health system the strongest in the country – which will result in total infrastructure spend reaching almost $10 billion over an eight year period.
“Put simply, the Baird Government will spend more in eight years than Labor spent in the entire 16 years it was in government.”
Southern NSW Local Health District and Health Infrastructure will work together to determine the clinical needs of the Braidwood community.
