$500,000 for Braidwood Recreation Ground

Braidwood Recreation Ground is one step closer to getting a new multi-purpose sports and recreation building and skate and BMX track with a $500,000 grant from the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government.

Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the successful ClubGRANTS Category 3 application was a tremendous boost to redeveloping the site to include quality sport facilities as well as providing a base for the important work of the Braidwood Life Centre.

“I’m thrilled the successful application has awarded our local community a win of the maximum possible grant of $500,000,” Mr Barilaro said.

“This exciting redevelopment will involve the demolition of existing facilities to make way for change rooms, a canteen, toilets and meeting rooms in a new multi-purpose building.

“The plans for the new skate and BMX park have been made in consultation with local youth and I have no doubt will be the envy of many nearby towns.

“A variety of sports are currently played on this site and I’m confident the redevelopment will increase the popularity of the facility with locals and visitors alike.

“This project not only assists the efforts of the Braidwood Life Centre but will also give the community the capacity to host regional and state sporting competitions.

“I’m thrilled to have the Deputy Premier and Minister for Hospitality, Gaming and Racing Troy Grant in Braidwood to see the grounds first hand and join me in announcing the fabulous news.

“I look forward to this project being completed and I thank all the partners involved in funding the first stage of this overhaul for our community to enjoy.”

ClubsNSW CEO Anthony Ball said clubs were thrilled to be able to support such worthy and important ventures as the Braidwood Recreation Grounds Redevelopment Project.

"Thanks to the not-for-profit club industry and the NSW Government, half a million dollars will be invested in this fantastic initiative.

“This project will be a fantastic addition to the local community and clubs are proud to have been able to help make it happen.”
