$40.9 million Forbes Hospital redevelopment on track
Health Minister Jillian Skinner and Member for Orange Andrew Gee today visited Forbes to view progress on the new Forbes Hospital building, which is being delivered as part of the $113.4 million Lachlan Health Service Project.
“The completion of this modern building will be an exciting milestone for the people of Forbes, who have been eagerly anticipating it since planning commenced in 2012,” Mrs Skinner said.
Construction of the new hospital building is scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks. It will be followed by the refurbishment of the Forbes Hospital renal and ambulatory care units.
The new building and refurbishment of Forbes Hospital includes:
- an emergency department and in-patient unit
- birthing suites for maternity services
- clinical support services, including medical imaging
- an upgraded ambulatory care unit and expanded renal and dental facilities.
The project includes the refurbishment of Forbes Hospital’s heritage building for hospital administration services.
“The Lachlan Health Service Project will provide Forbes with enhanced and contemporary services,” Mr Gee said.
“It's great to see both the Forbes and Parked communities getting the health services they deserve.”
The NSW Government committed $113.4 million toward the Lachlan Health Service Project, which includes $40.9 million for the redevelopment of Forbes Hospital and $72.5 million to construct a new Parkes Hospital on a new site.
The Lachlan Health Service Project is scheduled for completion in early 2016.
The Forbes community will have the opportunity to tour the new Forbes Hospital building before it is occupied. The date and other details of this public open day will be advised.
